WASHINGTON (Dec. 27, 2012) – National Farmers Union (NFU) President Roger Johnson issued the following statement today after the announcement that Lisa Jackson would step down as the administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), following President Obama’s second term inauguration in January 2013:
“NFU thanks Lisa Jackson for her four years of dedicated service as the administrator of the EPA. During her tenure, EPA worked diligently in providing sound science and analysis to approve E15 for consumer use, uphold the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) and resist calls for a waiver. EPA also took further steps to include a wider variety of feed stocks for the RFS, including grain sorghum, which will expand opportunities in rural America.
“Although her tenure was marked with challenges, including unfounded allegations of phantom regulations, secret spy drones and cow taxes, these criticisms proved to be unwarranted.
“NFU looks forward to continuing to work with the EPA’s next administrator to ensure the needs of rural America are met and protected.”
